Perfect Gewertz:
Everything a Gewertztraminer is supposed to be: Unctous, floral, dark, honeyed (but not sweet) heady with spice, palate coating wonder. The finish lasts for several minutes. It's a holy s#!!!%t wine.
If you've ever been bewildered by the amount of ZH wines at Kermit Lynch and just shrugged and walked away --take the risk. Take the plunge and get one of the high-end bottles, even if you can only afford a 375 ml. bottle. You really owe it to yourself.
I even broke out the forbidden glasses --Baccarat colored Rhine glasses that have been in my family for 35 years. --such a treat.

Mmmm. I'm still thinking about the ZH Riesling I had the other night. So divine--the gem of the evening. Though I'd love a Gewurztraminer. I work at Thomas Fogarty, where we only make two whites, that being one, and one of my favorites, no less.

I've had some pretty fine Fogarty Gewertz's too! The clime in Monterey seems to work with the grape.

Count me in as a Gewurztraminer fan as well (and I particularly love the ZH). I recently worked up a list of cheeses that work really well with this gem: Alpine Shepard, Ardrahan, Boursin, Chevre, Durrus, Meunster, Pecorino,Romano, Robiola, Swiss, Tome d’Aquitaine, Tumalo Tomme and Wensleydale.
