I get a lot of samples from various wineries, mostly those with pretty large output, and only when one rises to the top do I feel the need to share it to my readers. I have a bit of a bug about California Viognier. It's usually too heady, too alcoholic, syrupy, and way overpriced.
The Crusher, a product of the Three Loose Screws division of Don Sebastiani, is pretty high in alcohol at 14.9%, but has decent acidity to balance it out, great typicity in the aromas for Viognier and is a shocking $12.99 a bottle. What's even more surprising is that it's from Clarksburg, not Napa. This is simply delicious and recommended.
