This etherial, organically grown Syrah is at a peak right now. I'm not saying it won't get better or different, but this wine is now at it's peak in youth. 2006 was a better than usual year in the Northern Rhone, but moderate in weather, so the wines are not super-extracted and concentrated. Traditional producers, like Gonon, made wines with great aromatics without the Syrah getting to ripe or dried out.
I had this with some lamb kebabs last night and it was just perfect. It has just the right level of ripeness and spice. Recommended drinking beginning now.
